Manipur: MSPDCL Apprehends 21 Individuals in Mass Raid
Northeast Desk, 6th February: In a decisive move against power theft, the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd (MSPDCL) apprehended 21 individuals for allegedly engaging in illegal tapping of MSPCL low tension lines, following a mass raid conducted by officials and staff of MSPDCL in four districts on Monday.
During the raid, seven individuals from various locations in Imphal East district, four from Kakching district, three from Imphal West, and seven from Bishnupur were caught red-handed in the act of power theft.
The MSPDCL has taken swift action, requesting the police to register FIRs against all delinquent consumers and promoters of unauthorized colonies responsible for causing financial losses to the PSPCL through power theft.
Under the provisions of the Electricity Act of 2003, illegal usage of electricity is a cognizable offence, and offenders are subject to imprisonment for up to three years, a fine, or both. This crackdown underscores the commitment to uphold the law and ensure fair and lawful access to electricity for all citizens.
