Northeast Desk, 24th September: In a tragic incident, a 48-year-old woman, Ningombam Adhikarimayum Basanti, and her seven-year-old daughter were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their home in Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, Seram Leirak, Imphal West, around 5 a.m. on September 23. Basanti, who had been widowed 16 months ago, was the sole caregiver for her daughter after the death of her husband, A. Thoiba.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether the deaths resulted from suicide or foul play. The bodies have been sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) mortuary for post-mortem examination. The local community remains in shock, awaiting further details from the ongoing investigation.
