Manipur: Naga People’s Front Candidate Files Nomination for Outer Lok Sabha Seat

Northeast Desk, 25th March: Kachui Timothy Zimik, representing the Naga People’s Front (NPF), has officially submitted his nomination for the Outer Lok Sabha seat in Manipur, marking a significant milestone in the upcoming electoral process.

The decision to nominate Zimik was endorsed by the NPF’s Central Working Committee (CWC), solidifying his position as the party’s official candidate for the II-Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Zimik brings a wealth of experience to the forefront, having served as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in the Ministry of Finance (Revenue) during his tenure as a retired IRS.

The Lok Sabha elections in Manipur are scheduled to take place in two phases, with the Inner Manipur seat slated for April 19 and the Outer Manipur constituency voting on April 19 and 26.

In a significant development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its endorsement of the NPF’s candidate for the Outer Constituency in Manipur. Chief Minister Biren Singh expressed his satisfaction with the decision, citing directives from BJP’s National President, J.P. Nadda. Despite earlier speculation regarding his potential candidacy, Singh opted out of contesting in the Lok Sabha polls.

Additionally, BJP’s National Spokesperson Sambit Patra reiterated the party’s support not only for NPF candidates in Manipur but also for candidates from the National People’s Party (NPP) in Meghalaya and the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in Nagaland for the forthcoming elections.

With these developments, the political landscape in Manipur gains momentum as parties align and candidates prepare to vie for electoral success in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
