Manipur: National Press Day Celebrated with Workshop on AI in Media

Northeast Desk, 16th November: In celebration of National Press Day, the Department of Information & Public Relations of Manipur organized an insightful workshop at the DIPR Complex, focusing on the theme “Media in the era of Artificial Intelligence.” Attended by Commissioner IPR Shri M. Joy Singh and Director Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh, the event brought together prominent editors and senior journalists from various media outlets.

National Press Day, observed annually on November 16, commemorates the establishment of the Press Council of India in 1966 and highlights the crucial role of a free and responsible press in democratic societies.

This year’s theme delved into the evolving landscape of journalism in the digital age, specifically exploring the intersection of media and artificial intelligence (AI). Distinguished resource persons included Dr. Khumukcham Robindro Singh and Shri Thongam Bobo Sr., who shared insights into the integration of AI in media.

The workshop facilitated an interactive session, encouraging a dynamic exchange of ideas among editors, senior journalists, and students from the Department of Mass Communication and Computer Science at Manipur University, along with students from NIELIT, Akampat.

The diverse participation reflected the success of the workshop in fostering a multi-faceted discussion on the challenges and opportunities presented by the integration of artificial intelligence in the media landscape. The event showcased the commitment to staying abreast of technological advancements in journalism.
