Manipur: NPP President releases Manifesto for Assembly Polls

Guwahati: The President of the National People’s Party (NPP) and the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma along with Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh and State President L Jayantakumar Singh, virtually announced the manifesto for the upcoming Manipur Assembly elections on Sunday.

Manipur is one of five states that will hold elections next month.

Conrad Sangma used Twitter to announce the release of the Manipur election manifesto. “With Dy. CM Manipur, Sh. Joykumar Singh, State Working President, Sh. Jayantakumar Singh, and Arunachal State President, Sh. Mutchu Mithi, we released the Manifesto for the Manipur Elections 2022.”

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party would establish the government in Manipur with more than a two-thirds majority and added that the central leadership of BJP will take the call on the party’s chief minister’s face for the state Assembly elections.

CM Biren Singh being quoted by ANI claimed that the BJP will fight all 60 Assembly seats.

“The central leadership is in charge of ticket finalisation. The BJP will run for all 60 seats. We previously had 21 seats; this time, we will have twice as many. We’re putting in a lot of effort to get the two-thirds majority “, Biren Singh stated.

Manipur will vote in two phases on February 27 and March 3, and the votes will be counted on March 10.
