Manipur: One Injured in IED Blast in Imphal

Guwahati: At least one person sustained splinter injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast that rocked at Telepati area in Imphal East district of Manipur on Friday.

The blast reportedly took place at around 9 pm in the Mahavir Mandir area at Telepati.

The injured has been identified as 23-year-old Subham Prasad who is a resident of Khurai in Telipati.

According to reports, Prasad has been admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) hospital.

Meanwhile, the blast also damaged one Yodha and one Alto car parked nearby.

Reportedly, some of the surrounding residences’ windows were also shattered.

After learning of the blast, Wangkhei AC MLA Arunkumar Thangjam, ex-MLAs Okram Henry and Y Erabot, ADGP (L&O) Clay Khongsai, and other top police officers arrived at the spot.

Meanwhile, a forensic science team was also dispatched to undertake an initial inquiry.

It needs to be mentioned that no one has claimed responsibility or stated the motive for the explosion as of yet.
