Manipur Operation Nets Multi-Crore Drug Bust, One Arrest Made

Imphal: A significant drug seizure has occurred in Manipur’s Chandel district, where security forces confiscated brown sugar estimated to be worth Rs 3.29 crore. The operation, which resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old man, was confirmed by officials on Tuesday, March 18th.

The successful operation, conducted by a team of Assam Rifles, was initiated following credible intelligence reports. The team carried out a targeted operation in Kuljang village on March 16th, leading to the discovery of 137 soap cases containing the illegal substance. Along with the narcotics, two mobile phones were also seized from the individual apprehended during the operation, according to an official statement released by Assam Rifles.

The arrested individual, who hails from the neighboring Tengnoupal district, has since been transferred to police custody for further investigation. Authorities are now focusing on tracing potential connections to broader drug trafficking networks that may be operating within the region.
