Manipur Police and Security Forces Crack Down on Militancy, Arrest Three Individuals
Imphal: In a significant move against insurgency, Manipur Police and security forces conducted two separate operations, leading to the arrest of three individuals connected to militant groups.
The operations also resulted in the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and vehicles, underlining the intensified efforts to curb illegal activities in the state.
In the first operation, Manipur Police apprehended a 29-year-old individual, Tularanjan Ingudam Meitei, near Zomi Villa Gate in North AOC, Imphal West.
Meitei, an active member of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) [KCP (PWG)], was reportedly involved in extortion targeting the general public and local businesses. The police recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine, a mobile handset, and an unregistered two-wheeler from his possession.
In a separate operation in Lamzang Village, Churachandpur District, security forces arrested two individuals, Jangneu Haokip (33) and Lililn Haokip (42). The duo was found with a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including a 9mm Carbine Machine Gun 1A1 with a magazine, a pistol with a magazine, 123 live rounds of ammunition, a four-wheeler, and two mobile handsets.
Both operations are part of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle militant networks in the region. Investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the suspects’ activities and connections. These operations highlight the commitment of security forces to restoring peace and security in Manipur.
