Manipur Police Apprehend Three Militants in Separate Operations

Imphal: The Manipur Police have successfully apprehended three active militants belonging to different proscribed groups in a series of operations conducted on February 12.

In the first operation, carried out in Namdulong Khuman Lampak Main Stadium Road, Imphal West, two cadres of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO) were arrested.

Identified as Ashem Dinesh Meetei (41) and Huidrom Tomba Singh (36), the duo were apprehended for their involvement in extortion activities in the Namdulong area.

During the arrest, the police recovered four mobile handsets, a two-wheeler vehicle, two wallets, cash worth Rs 9260, an ID card, a side bag, and a PREPAK(PRO) leaflet from their possession.

In a separate operation conducted in Langol Game Village Zone 2 area, Imphal West, the police apprehended an active militant of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-PWG).

The individual, identified as Thongram Bidyashagar Singh (22), was found in possession of three mobile phones, three BAOFENG handheld sets with four chargers, various military fatigues, bags, and other miscellaneous items

Furthermore, the police team recovered two plastic tear smoke boxes containing 58 empty cases of tear smoke munitions from Langol Game Village Zone 1 area.

These successful operations demonstrate the continued efforts of the Manipur Police in combating militancy and maintaining law and order within the state.
