Manipur Police Arrest 33; Apprehend 7 Juveniles Amid Violent Protests

Northeast Desk, 12th September: Manipur police have arrested 33 individuals and apprehended seven juveniles in connection with violent protests that erupted across the state in recent days. The arrests were made at various locations throughout Manipur as part of ongoing efforts to address the unrest.

An investigation has been launched, and legal proceedings are expected to follow against those involved. The police, through their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, have urged the public to refrain from unlawful activities and cooperate with law enforcement to maintain peace and normalcy.

In a recent statement on X, the police said, “Manipur police requests the public not to indulge in unlawful behavior and to cooperate with law enforcing agencies in maintenance of peace and normalcy.”

The situation in Manipur remained tense but controlled as of September 11, following clashes between students and security forces during a march to the Raj Bhavan on September 10. A curfew imposed in the capital, Imphal, continued into the next day, with increased security measures and police patrols to prevent further incidents.
