Manipur Police Arrest Four, Including Militant Cadres, in Separate Operations

Imphal: The Manipur police have arrested four individuals, including three belonging to proscribed militant outfits, in separate operations conducted on March 28 and 29.

One person, Wahengbam Ajit Meetei, was arrested for selling SIM cards using stolen credentials, which were suspected to have been sold to anti-social elements for illegal activities, including extortion.

Meetei, a resident of Leimakhong Chingmang, Imphal West district, had in his possession 117 SIM cards, a mobile handset, and an Aadhaar card, all of which were seized by the police. In another operation, security forces arrested Ningthoujam Boboy Singh, an active cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK Pro), from Mandop Yumpham Relief Camp, Khurkhul.

Sanasam Sonamit Singh, an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), was also arrested from his residence in Sawombung Maning Leikai under Imphal East district. Meanwhile, on March 28, the Manipur Police arrested Sharungbam Thoiba Singh, an active member of KCP (City Meitei), from Wangoo Tera Mameiching area, Kakching District. Singh was involved in extortion activities from the general public of Kakching and Imphal West districts.
