Manipur Police Arrest KCP Cadre, Seize Arms and Ammunition in Separate Operations

Imphal: Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive War Group) [KCP (PWG)] on December 13 during an operation in Bamdiar Awang Leikai.

The individual, identified as 43-year-old Konthoujam Jiban Meitei, was apprehended based on specific intelligence inputs.

During the operation, authorities recovered a cache of arms, including one SLR Rifle with a magazine, two .303 Rifles, one Pump Action Gun, and multiple rounds of ammunition. Other seized items included 40 KCP (PWG) badges, sleeping bags, handset chargers, a BP cover, and two gunny sacks.

In a parallel operation as part of ongoing area domination and search exercises in the vulnerable hill and valley regions of Manipur, security forces uncovered a significant stockpile of weaponry in Keirao Khunou, Imphal East District. The recovered items included an MA4 Assault Rifle, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, a 9 mm Pistol, a .32 Pistol, five hand grenades, and multiple rounds of ammunition for various firearms. Additionally, two detonators, five arming rings, and internet communication equipment, including a satellite antenna, router, and cables, were also seized.

These operations underline the continued efforts by security forces to combat insurgency and maintain stability in Manipur’s volatile regions. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended use of the recovered arms and equipment.
