Manipur Police Arrest KCP(Nongdrenkhomba) Member in Major Operation
Northeast, August 24 — In a significant crackdown on insurgency, Manipur Police apprehended Wangkhem Sunil Singh, a 40-year-old member of the proscribed outfit KCP(Nongdrenkhomba), during an operation in the Kakching area today. Singh was arrested for his involvement in extortion activities, and authorities recovered a mobile handset from his possession.
This arrest is part of a broader effort by security forces to enhance safety and curb insurgency across the state. Extensive search operations were conducted in both hill and valley districts, leading to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons.
From Sekmai Parao, Sekmai Laipat, and Sekmai Thanga Leikai in Imphal West District, security forces confiscated:
- One country-made pistol with an empty magazine,
- Two hand grenades,
- One country-made rifle with an empty magazine.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent networks and ensure peace and security in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigations and efforts to further suppress insurgent activities.
