Manipur Police Arrest Member of Banned Outfit PREPAK(Pro)
Northeast Desk, 23rd July: Manipur Police arrested Sapam Priyojit Singh, an active member of the banned militant outfit PREPAK(Pro), from Okram Chuthek, Imphal East. Singh, aged 43, was reportedly involved in extorting government employees. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession during the arrest.
In an effort to maintain law and order, security forces conducted search operations and area domination in the vulnerable hill and valley districts. These measures aim to secure fringe areas and prevent further unlawful activities.
To ensure the safe movement of essential items, security forces facilitated the transit of 266 vehicles along National Highway 2 (NH-2). Strict security protocols are in place, including security convoys in sensitive stretches, to guarantee the free and safe passage of these vehicles.
Additionally, a total of 99 checkpoints have been set up across various districts of Manipur, covering both hill and valley regions. Police detained 60 individuals in connection with different violations across the state, reinforcing the security measures in place.
