Manipur Police Arrest Three Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup Cadres for Extortion Activities; Five Others Detained in Firing Incident
Northeast Desk, 26th August: In a significant operation, Manipur Police arrested three cadres of the banned outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Changangei Uchekon in Imphal West District on August 25. The arrested individuals have been identified as Oinam Milan Singh (52), Yumnam Ranbir Singh (51), and Khaidem Dhanabir Meitei (24), all of whom are reportedly involved in extensive extortion activities across the Imphal area.
During the arrest, authorities recovered a variety of items from the suspects, including four mobile handsets, two Aadhaar cards, two driving licenses, two PAN cards, one voter ID card, three wallets, a total cash sum of Rs 9,125, and a four-wheeler vehicle. The police believe these items were being used in their extortion operations.
In a separate incident on August 24, Manipur Police arrested five individuals in connection with a shooting incident at Koutruk in Imphal West District. The accused have been identified as Pukhrambam Binit alias Amar Meitei (19), Longjam Momocha alias Vishal Meitei (34), Thokchom Loyasana alias Yaiphaba (41), Wangkhem Dilip Meitei (45), and Ningthoujam Ibomcha Meitei (40). The circumstances surrounding the firing incident are under investigation, and legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects.
These arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of Manipur Police to clamp down on criminal activities and maintain law and order in the region. Authorities continue to investigate both cases, with further details expected to emerge as the legal process unfolds.
