
Manipur Police Arrest Three Militant Cadres in Separate Operations
Imphal: Manipur police have apprehended three active cadres belonging to different banned outfits from various locations across the state.
In the first operation, a team from Hiyanglam Police Station in Kakching District arrested Hawaibam Ibungo, alias Mangi, a 35-year-old member of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK). He was allegedly involved in recruiting new members and extorting money from the public in Kakching District.
In another operation, personnel from Heingang Police Station arrested Pukhrambam Samchand Meetei, alias Potshemba, a 52-year-old operative of PREPAK (Progressive). He was taken into custody near Manipur Diesel, Mantripukhri. Originally from Nathan Village, Churachandpur, Samchand Meetei currently resides in Hiyangthang, Imphal West.
In a separate action, the police apprehended Pukhrambam Rohit Singh, alias Kakpa, a 29-year-old cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) – Politburo Standing Committee. He was arrested from Khundrakpam Awang Leikai under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East. Rohit, a resident of Lamboi Khul Awang Leikai under Sagolmang Police Station, was reportedly engaged in unlawful activities linked to the banned outfit.
