Manipur Police Arrests Individual for Selling Black SIM Cards Using Fake Identities

Imphal: The Manipur police on February 13 arrested an individual, Takhellambam Sanatonba Meitei (27), in connection with the sale of pre-activated black SIM cards using fake or fabricated identities.

The arrest took place in Lousangkhong Mayai Leikai under Porompat-PS, Imphal East district.

During the arrest, police seized several incriminating items from Meitei, including one registered agreement, an affidavit, four blank Jio SIM cards, 31 suspected black Airtel SIM cards, 24 suspected black Airtel 5G+ SIM cards, a mobile phone, a white cloth, an identity card for a BSNL retailer, an Aadhaar card, two seals, three biometric fingerprint scanners, and a backpack.

In separate operations conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, security forces recovered a significant cache of contraband items

In one operation in Chakpikarong-PS, Chandel district, security forces recovered one Assault Rifle, one magazine, 7.62 mm live rounds, one local-made mortar, one live bomb, three 9 mm live rounds, and three Baofeng radio sets.

In another operation in New Keithelmanbi-PS, Kangpokpi district, security personnel seized one .303 Sniper Rifle, four pistols with magazines, two SBBL guns, one Long Range Projectile Launcher, two Long Range Projectile Launcher bombs, two 36 hand grenades, two modified hand grenades, one 36 hand grenade lever, two wireless sets, one Stun Shell Normal, one Cartridge 38 mm Anti-Riot, and ten SBBL ammunitions.
