Manipur Police Arrests Two in Connection with Ongoing Protests, Recovers Weapons
Northeast Desk, 13th September: The Manipur Police arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in the ongoing protests in Thoubal district. Acting on specific inputs, police personnel made the arrests on September 11 near Sanjenthong, under the jurisdiction of Porompat Police Station in Imphal East District.
The accused have been identified as Laishram Roshan Singh (26), a resident of Khangabok Tangkha Leikai, and Moirangthem Bumbum Singh (21), from Khangabok Meisnam Leikai. A live tear gas shell was also recovered from their possession.
In a separate operation, police conducted search and area domination exercises in the vulnerable hill and valley districts, including Churachandpur. The police recovered one 7.5 feet rocket, one modified M-16 rifle, a large country-made mortar, a medium-sized country-made mortar, three bomb launchers, and other explosives.
Additionally, police ensured the safe movement of 262 and 95 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively. Strict security measures have been implemented across vulnerable areas, with security convoys deployed to ensure free and safe vehicle movement.
The police have also installed 110 checkpoints across various districts, detaining five individuals for violations.
