Manipur Police, CRPF Seize 2 Kg Heroin; Two Arrested in Anti-Drug Operation

Imphal — In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, a joint team of Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested two individuals and seized over 2 kilograms of suspected heroin during an operation on Friday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jenarul Mia (21) of Shasani, Maldah District, West Bengal, and Deba Das (18) of Ward No. 2, Bokajan Bazar, Karbi Anglong District, Assam.

Officials said the operation led to the recovery of 2.066 kilograms of suspected heroin powder, packed in two packets, along with two mobile phones and a motorcycle used for transportation.

Police sources confirmed that the accused are currently under interrogation to uncover the larger network involved in the smuggling racket.

Authorities described the seizure as a major success in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics-related crimes, which have been a persistent challenge in the region.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
