Manipur Police Eradicates 30 Acres of Poppy Cultivation in Ukhrul; Intensifies Security Measures Across the State
Northeast Desk, 2nd December: In a significant operation, Manipur police took decisive action against illegal poppy cultivation by destroying 30 acres of poppy fields in Tankhul Hundung village, located in the Mapithel hill range under Ukhrul district. The operation aims to curb the illicit production of narcotics in the state.
In parallel, security forces conducted thorough search operations and established area dominance in fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Thoubal, and Bishnupur districts. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the region.
On the transportation front, security measures have been heightened along National Highways 37 and 2. Approximately 288 and 293 vehicles carrying essential items have been safeguarded, ensuring their smooth movement through Manipur. In a proactive approach, 141 Nakas/Checkpoints have been strategically placed across different districts, both in the hill and valley regions.
To address violations and maintain law and order, police detained 335 individuals in connection with various offenses in different districts of the state. The stringent security measures underscore the commitment to creating a secure environment and preventing unlawful activities.
