Manipur Police Intensifies Crackdown on Militant Groups

Imphal: Manipur Police have dealt a significant blow to militant organizations operating in the state, with a series of successful operations leading to arrests and seizures of arms and ammunition.

On December 18, three active members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) were apprehended from Thangmeiband Watham Leirak crossing in Imphal West. The arrested individuals, Gotimayum Shridevi Devi, Abujam Manosh Singh, and Abujam Sunder Singh, were found in possession of a 9mm pistol, a .32 pistol, ammunition, mobile phones, and a two-wheeler.

Security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in Makou Pourabi, Imphal East District, and successfully dismantled two underground organization camps. A KYKL hideout and a PREPAK camp-cum-training center were raided, leading to the recovery of an air gun, mobile phones, a BP helmet, uniforms, an INSAS LMG magazine, ammunition, a bayonet, dummy guns, walkie-talkie sets, and vehicles.

In another significant operation, two KCP (PWG) members involved in extortion activities were arrested at Mantripukhri Bazaar, Imphal East District. Sanjrambam Luha Meitei and Nongthombam Itombi Meitei were found with demand letters, cash receipt notes, mobile phones, cash, ID cards, a sling bag, and a scooter.

Additional search and area domination operations across the state have resulted in the recovery of two SLRs, an INSAS rifle, and ammunition from Bongbal Khullen Village, Imphal East District.

These successful operations demonstrate the commitment of Manipur Police and security forces to thwart militant activities and maintain peace and security in the region.
