Manipur Police Intensifies War on Drugs, Destroys 59 Acres of Illegal Poppy Cultivation
Ukhrul and Kangpokpi: Manipur Police has taken significant steps to curb the growing drug menace in the state. In a joint operation with the Forest Department, Border Security Force (BSF), and district administration, police personnel destroyed 59 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Ukhrul and Kangpokpi districts.
In Ukhrul district, authorities arrested two individuals, Letkhohao Haokip (37) and Hegou Khongsai (30), and destroyed 45 acres of poppy cultivation at the Mapithel hill range in Phungyar.
Simultaneously, in Kangpokpi district, police officers eradicated 14 acres of illegal poppy plantations near Thonglang Akutpa. An FIR has been registered against the culprits involved in these illicit activities.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh commended the efforts of the security forces, including the CRPF, for their exceptional contributions to the war on drugs. He emphasized the state and central government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug threats and ensuring a drug-free Manipur.
