Manipur Police Nab Three Insurgents in Coordinated Operations
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur achieved a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat insurgency, apprehending three active members of different underground organizations in a series of well-coordinated operations conducted on April 22nd.
The arrests, spanning across two districts, underscore the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
The first success came in Imphal West District, where police successfully tracked and apprehended Tongbram Dolly Devi, a 20-year-old active cadre belonging to the KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) faction. The arrest unfolded at the bustling Lamphel Supermarket, near the busy Traffic Island.
Originally hailing from Kadangband Mayai Leikai in Lamshang, Devi was residing in the vicinity of Sangai Hospital along RIMS Road at the time of her capture.
In a parallel operation executed on the same day, security forces in Imphal East District managed to detain Wangkhairakpam Nandi Singh, a 42-year-old active operative associated with the PREPAK. Singh, a resident of Lousangkhong Makha Leikai, was apprehended at Napet Palli Thongkong, in close proximity to the DGR Velocity KSK oil pump. His capture is considered a notable achievement in curbing the activities of the PREPAK in the eastern district.
The third successful operation culminated in the arrest of Laishram Nongdamba Singh, a 25-year-old active member of the KYKL (SOREPA), also known by the alias Lanleiba. He was apprehended within his home area of Hiyangthang Makha Leikai in Imphal West District. During the course of his arrest, law enforcement officials also recovered a mobile phone, which is likely to be of significance in further investigations. These coordinated arrests are expected to disrupt the operational capabilities of the respective insurgent groups and contribute to a more stable security environment in Manipur.
