Manipur Police Net Five Militants in Series of Operations
Imphal: The Manipur police on February 13th conducted a series of successful operations, resulting in the arrest of five militants belonging to different proscribed groups.
In Imphal West district, two active cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Noyon), Kangjam Pradip Singh (38) and Thokchom Romeshchandra Singh (33), were apprehended from Thangmeiband and Keishampat respectively.
These individuals were directly involved in extortion activities within the Imphal area, including issuing monetary demands. During the arrests, authorities seized three mobile phones, one side bag, two two-wheelers, and a voter ID card.
Furthermore, another active cadre of KCP (Noyon), Leimapokpam Sanjit Meitei (54), was arrested from Khurai Thoudam Leikai under Imphal East District.
Meitei was actively involved in extortion activities targeting various entities, including the general public, government officials, hospitals, government schools, and petrol pumps. One mobile phone and a two-wheeler were recovered from his possession.
In a separate operation conducted in Thoubal district, two active cadres of the KCP (PWG) organization, Thokchom Lanchenba Singh (22) and Md. Salim Khan (32), were apprehended from Sangaiyumpham Nungphou Samaram Road.
These individuals were also involved in extortion activities. During their arrest, authorities seized one pistol with a magazine, five rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, and a four-wheeler.
These arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the Manipur police in combating militancy and maintaining law and order within the state.
