Manipur Police Recover Cache of Arms and Explosives in Bishnupur and Imphal West Districts
Imphal – In a major security operation, authorities in Manipur have recovered a significant cache of arms and explosives from Bishnupur and Imphal West districts, according to a police statement issued on Friday.
This operation reflects ongoing efforts to address security concerns in the region by preventing potential threats associated with such weaponry.
In Uyungmakhong, Bishnupur district, police uncovered a large array of arms, including a 7.62 mm SLR rifle, six HE 36 grenades, two tear gas grenades, three stinger grenades, and an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approximately 2.3 kg. Other items recovered included a magazine, four grenade arm rings, five dual shells, four grenade detonators, and two WT sets (Baofeng).
Meanwhile, in Shantipur Makha Leikai, Imphal West district, authorities seized additional weapons, including a single-barrel gun, two 9 mm locally-made pistols with magazines, an empty 7.62 LMG magazine, three M-67 hand grenades with detonators, a tube launcher, and four rounds of live ammunition.
All seized arms and explosives have been transferred to local police stations for further investigation.
