Manipur Police Recover Explosive Devices and Weapons in Kangpokpi District

Northeast Desk, 4th September: During a series of search operations and area domination exercises, Manipur Police recovered two unexploded mortar HE bombs in Haraothel, Kangpokpi district. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to secure fringe and vulnerable areas in both hill and valley districts amid rising tensions.

In addition to the bomb recovery, police operations across various districts of Manipur ensured the safe passage of 67 and 273 vehicles carrying essential items along National Highways 37 and 2, respectively. To maintain security, strict measures have been implemented at all vulnerable locations, and sensitive stretches of the highways are being monitored with security convoys.

The Manipur Police have set up a total of 103 Nakas/Checkpoints across different districts, resulting in the detention of 212 individuals for various violations.

In another significant operation at Mark hill, Kangpokpi district, the police recovered a cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle with a magazine, an HK-33 rifle with a magazine, a triple barrel rifle, a .22 rifle, a bolt action rifle, a 12-inch single bore barrel rifle, an HE-36 hand grenade, and a Motorola radio set. Additionally, they found ten live ammunition rounds, seventy-five fired cases, a broken INSAS rifle magazine, a machete, three bulletproof jackets, and various other tactical gear.

These efforts reflect the ongoing vigilance of the Manipur Police in maintaining security and preventing further violence in the region.
