Manipur Police Register FIR Over Fraudulent Calls Targeting MLAs Amid Political Crisis

Imphal: Amid the ongoing political turmoil in Manipur, police have registered an FIR at Imphal Police Station following complaints about fraudulent calls made by unknown individuals attempting to influence and mislead Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

According to officials, these calls are exploiting the current political situation in the state, raising concerns about misinformation and possible coercion. In response, a full investigation has been launched, with authorities vowing strict action against those responsible.

Taking to its official X handle, Manipur Police issued a strong warning, stating, “It is hereby warned that those involved in such fraudulent activities will face strict and strong legal consequences. Investigation is in full swing.”

Police have urged both the public and politicians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to such fraudulent calls.

The development comes amid the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, as the state continues to grapple with political instability and law-and-order challenges.
