Manipur Police Rescue Two Minor Girls, Arrest Two RPF/PLA Cadres in Crackdown on Militant Recruitment

Imphal: Manipur police have successfully rescued two minor girls and arrested two active cadres of the banned militant outfit Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) in Kakching district for attempting to recruit the minors into their ranks.

The rescued girls were located in Kakching Bazar and Wangbal Laikon, Thoubal, while the arrested militants were identified as Moirangthem Romen Singh (23) from Moiraang Bazar and Nongmaithem Mohendro Singh (54) from Kakching Thonglan. Authorities recovered a scooter and two mobile phones from the suspects. The minors were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Thoubal, for further legal procedures.

This operation is part of a series of successful crackdowns on militant activities across the state. In another related incident on March 10, security forces arrested two active militants of the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Wangoo Sabal, Bishnupur district. Pukhrambam Bimol Singh (39) and Athokpam Surchandra Singh (42) were found in possession of mobile phones and Aadhaar cards.

In a separate raid on the same day, Ningombam Bonbon Singh (45), an active member of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), was arrested in Imphal East district for alleged extortion activities and arms trafficking. Pistols and live ammunition were seized during his arrest.

On March 9, the police also arrested two militants from the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP/PWG) in Imphal West, confiscating grenades, mobile phones, cash, and a two-wheeler.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling militant networks and ensuring the safety of civilians in the region.
