Manipur Police Seize Self-Loading Rifle, Grenades, and RPG Shells in Bishnupur District
Northeast Desk, 24th September: Manipur Police have seized a self-loading rifle (SLR), grenades, and RPG shells during a search operation in Bishnupur district, according to a statement released on Tuesday. The items were discovered on Monday as part of area domination exercises in the Machin Mano hills.
The recovered cache includes an SLR with a magazine, two rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) shells, two RPG shell chargers, three HE-36 hand grenades, and a Chinese hand grenade.
This comes against the backdrop of ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, where clashes between the Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and the hill-based Kukis have resulted in over 200 deaths and displaced thousands since May last year.
