Manipur: Principals Receive Show-Cause Notice From State Govt on HSLC Exam Debacle

Guwahati: Manipur government issued two school principals with a show-cause notice for failing to give over 96 students their High School Leaving Certificate exam admit cards.

As many as 96 pupils from 19 different educational institutions, including 10 government schools, were allegedly denied the opportunity to sit for the HSLC Exam 2023 as a result of the school authorities’ alleged negligence during the form-filling procedure.

The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) begins the HSLC Examination 2023 on Thursday (March 16).

Democratic Students’ Association of Manipur (DESAM) urged on March 15 the state administration to take into account letting these 96 students take the exam citing worries over the possible effects on their careers.

At the DESAM headquarters in Imphal, M. Somorjit Meitei, the organization’s secretary general informed the media that based on the results of an inquiry conducted by the DESAM team BOSEM denied students access to the exam.

He argued that some of the school administrators who were in charge of filling out the forms were reported missing with the fee amount while other were absent due to illness, in accordance with the findings of the DESAM inquiry.

The two principals have been asked by the government to answer to the show cause notice no later than March 24.
