Manipur: Rahul Gandhi to Commence Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Thoubal
Northeast Desk, 13th January: In a press conference in Imphal, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh announced that Rahul Gandhi would launch the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Thoubal town, Manipur, tomorrow.
Scheduled to reach Imphal at 11 am, Rahul Gandhi will initiate the Yatra by visiting the Khongjom War Memorial. Ramesh highlighted the Yatra’s transformative impact on Indian politics, with the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra considered the next step after the earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Over the next eleven days, Rahul Gandhi will lead the Yatra across five Northeastern states, covering approximately 6,200 kilometers. Ramesh emphasized that the Yatra aims to address injustices from the last decade under the BJP government, focusing on social, economic, and political aspects.
During the two-month course, Rahul Gandhi will engage in public meetings and discussions with socio-political organizations to present the Congress’s approach to delivering justice to the people.
Ramesh clarified that the Yatra is ideological, not election-related. Initially set to be flagged off from Imphal, the venue shifted to Thoubal due to conditions imposed by the state government.
The Yatra is expected to reach Assam on January 18, covering 17 districts over eight days and addressing economic, social, and political justice concerns.
