Manipur Raj Bhawan Bombing Case: 2 convicted by Special NIA Court

Guwahati: Two defendants were found guilty in a grenade attack on the Manipur Raj Bhawan on January 19, 2021 by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Imphal.

The court also stated that it would hear the two convicted parties’ sentences and issue a ruling on July 16.

The two convicts in question, Lisham Ibosana alias Micheal, aged 42 years is from Khongman Lisham and Konsam Manithoi, aged 46 years is from Lairikyengbam Leikai.

The court had earlier remanded them to judicial custody till July 12.

It may be noted that on March 5, 2021, a FIR was filed in the case at the Imphal City Police Station.

The bombing case was re-registered on March 6, 2021 at the NIA branch office in New Delhi under sections 16 (1)(b) and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, and section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The two convicted individuals were charged with violations of sections 307/120 B of the IPC, as well as sections 16, 18, 20, and 38 of the UAPA and section 4 of the explosive substance act.
