Manipur: Repoll to be held in 12 polling station on March 5
Imphal (Manipur): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered repoll in 12 polling stations in Manipur.
The 12 polling stations are under five constituencies in Churachandpur, Imphal East, and Kangpokpi districts of the state. The repolling will be held on March 5 when 22 constituencies will of the state will go to the second and last phase of polling.
Re-elections will be placed in five assembly constituencies: Khundrakpam, Saitu, Thanlon, Henglep, and Churachandpur.
Sarouthel, New Keithelmanbi, Songsang, Maite, Tinsuong, Majuron Kuki, N Chingphei, Khoirentak, Molsang, Leinom, Teikot, and Maukot are among the voting stations that will be re-counted.
During the first phase of assembly elections in the state, which took place on February 28, many episodes of violence were recorded from these polling sites.
Based on the information obtained and submitted by the respective polling officials, a re-poll at these voting stations was suggested.
Miscreants destroyed Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) during and after the poll, prompting the decision to re-poll.
According to reports, supporters of the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress battled on Wednesday night in the Sugnu assembly constituency.
