Manipur: Rs. 18.85 Crore Heist Shakes Ukhrul as Armed Men Rob Punjab National Bank
Northeast Desk, 1st December: A daring heist unfolded in the heart of Ukhrul town as approximately ten masked men, armed with sophisticated weapons, looted a staggering amount of Rs. 18.85 crore from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) situated in Viewland-I, one of the main bazaars.
The incident occurred around 5:40 pm, taking both bank personnel and security forces by surprise.
Despite the presence of around eight personnel from the 6th Manipur Rifles, the assailants executed the heist with alarming precision, overpowering the security detail.
The Punjab National Bank, recently converted from the United Bank of India, now faces a critical investigation into the circumstances surrounding the audacious robbery. Authorities are mobilizing efforts to track down the masked perpetrators and recover the stolen funds.
The incident has raised concerns about the town’s security, prompting a reassessment of safety measures in financial institutions.
