Manipur: RSS Conclave Opens with Focus on Manipur Crisis and National Unity
Imphal: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) commenced its pivotal three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) meeting on March 21st, with the strife-torn region of Manipur taking center stage in the agenda.
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat formally inaugurated the assembly, the organization’s highest decision-making body, signaling the gravity of the issues slated for deliberation.
Discussions at the ABPS are primarily centered on the ongoing challenges in Manipur, a state grappling with prolonged unrest.
Additionally, the gathering will address concerns surrounding the perceived attempts to foster a ‘North-South divide’ within India, highlighting the RSS’s commitment to national cohesion.
RSS joint secretary C R Mukunda, speaking to the press, underscored the significance of the meeting, stating that “intense decisions on some of the contemporary and burning issues” would be addressed. The assembly has drawn the participation of leaders from 32 RSS-affiliated organizations, emphasizing the breadth of the Sangh’s network and its collective focus on these critical matters.
Mukunda further elaborated on the situation in Manipur, acknowledging the “rough patch” the state has endured for the past 20 months. He expressed a cautious optimism, noting that “there is some hope today.” He attributed this hope to the “vision of the central government, which are political and some of which are administrative,” and their potential to bring relief to the people of Manipur.
