Manipur Security Forces Arrest Two Militants in Separate Operations
Imphal: On February 1, Manipur security forces successfully apprehended two active militants involved in criminal activities across various districts.
The arrests were part of ongoing efforts to combat insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the state.
In the first operation, Leisangthem Rajesh Singh (30), an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP – Taibanganba), was arrested from the Langmeidong Mamang Awang Leikai area in Kakching district.
Singh was involved in extortion, recruitment of new cadres, and kidnapping across Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts.
From his possession, security forces recovered three mobile phones, one PAN card, one Aadhaar card, one voter card, and a wallet containing Rs 2,240.
In a separate operation, security personnel arrested Meitram Somorjit Singh (50), an active member of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM), from Khumbong Bazar under Patsoi-PS, Imphal West district.
From his possession, authorities seized a .32 pistol with a magazine containing two 7.65 mm rounds, five mobile phones, one PAN card, one voter card, one driving license, and a wallet with Rs 8,000.
Both arrests mark significant progress in the state’s efforts to curb insurgent activities, with the authorities continuing to intensify operations to ensure peace and security across Manipur.
