Manipur Security Forces Dismantle Volunteer Check Posts, Strengthen Highway Security
Imphal: In a move to restore normalcy and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles, joint security forces in Manipur dismantled volunteer check posts at Kaprang and S. Kwatlian in Churachandpur District along National Highway-2 on February 15.
Manipur Police, through an official statement on X, announced that these check posts, initially set up at the height of the conflict, were no longer required due to the improved security situation in the area. Following their removal, security personnel took control of the locations, assuring the public of unhindered travel along the highway. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to secure major routes and prevent disruptions.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, law enforcement conducted a surprise crackdown on the sale of tinted/black films at car accessory shops in MG Avenue, Thangal Bazar, under City Police Station in Imphal West. Officers discovered ten black film rolls in three different shops, which were seized and taken to the police station. Shop owners were also instructed to cease selling black film rolls in the future, aligning with traffic and security regulations.
These actions reflect the state’s ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and regulate activities that could pose security risks. Authorities have assured continued vigilance and proactive measures to uphold law and order across Manipur.
