Manipur Security Forces Intensify Efforts with Significant Arms Seizures and Bunker Dismantling

Northeast Desk, 24th June: Security forces in Manipur have ramped up their efforts to maintain law and order, executing comprehensive search operations and area domination exercises across the state’s hill and valley districts. These intensified operations have yielded significant arms recoveries and the dismantling of bunkers, highlighting ongoing measures to curb illegal activities and bolster security in the region.

In the Khoidum Mamang Leikai area of Kakching District, security personnel seized a substantial cache of weapons and equipment. The haul included one country-made pistol, four 36 MMKI hand grenades without detonators, one Chinese hand grenade, five tube launchers, one carbine with a magazine containing 10 live rounds, eight tear smoke shells, one smoke grenade, and one Baofeng wireless set complete with batteries and chargers.

In addition, forces dismantled a bunker in Old Bijang, Kangpokpi District, disrupting the operations of illegal armed groups in the area. This move is part of a broader strategy to undermine the infrastructure supporting these groups.

Further search operations in Old Bijang led to the recovery of an extensive array of weaponry: one MA 3 Mk II assault rifle with a magazine and sling, one 7.62 mm self-loading rifle (SLR) with a magazine and sling, ten live rounds, one single-barrel rifle, one improvised pumpi, an ammunition pouch, six olive green jackets, and one pair of jungle shoes.

These operations underscore the security forces’ commitment to restoring peace and order in Manipur by dismantling the capabilities of illegal armed factions and ensuring the safety of the populace.
