Imphal: In a major security initiative across Manipur, authorities conducted extensive search operations in both hill and valley districts, targeting sensitive regions with area domination exercises.
These operations led to significant weapon recoveries from Aigejang village and Uyok Nalla in Bishnupur District.
Among the seized items were one SLR rifle, one sniper rifle, two bolt-action rifles, a 9mm pistol, five hand grenades, live ammunition, tear smoke shells, stun grenades, and bulletproof jackets. Security forces also confiscated a WT set and two plastic sacks containing additional riot-control equipment.
To maintain essential supplies across Manipur, authorities secured convoys of 143 vehicles on NH-37 and 14 vehicles on NH-2. Additional security was enforced with 111 checkpoints across the state, resulting in the detention of five individuals for checkpoint violations, highlighting the heightened security vigilance.
In a separate operation aimed at tackling illegal liquor production, Manipur Police raided suspected brewing sites in Churachandpur District.
A clandestine distillery at K Vangphai Village was shut down, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of a vehicle. Another raid at LFC Inn led to the discovery of approximately 1,500 liters of illegally produced DIC liquor and 500 cans of beer, which were destroyed by authorities.
These coordinated efforts underscore the intensified measures by Manipur’s security forces to curb illegal activities and maintain peace across the state.
