Manipur Security Forces Nab 14 KYKL Militants in Bishnupur and Kakching Districts
Imphal, Manipur – A major breakthrough against insurgency was achieved on February 20th when security forces apprehended 14 active cadres of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL) in separate operations conducted in Bishnupur and Kakching districts.
In Bishnupur’s Moirang Kiyam Leikai area, a coordinated operation resulted in the arrest of 13 KYKL militants.
They have been identified as Khwairakpam Rojit (26), Kongkham Hemlet (27), Leishangthem Amarjit (24), Khwairakpam Bikram (42), Soiban Deepak Singh (33), Laishram Indrakumar (36), Konthoujam Swamajit (36), Heisnam Premananda (33), Khundongbam Nimai Singh (29), Naorem Amarjit (28), Abujam Ringku (24), Moirangthem Inao (44) and Huirongbam Ibomcha (18).
The operation also led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and materials, including 27 cartridges, three walkie-talkie sets, four walkie-talkie chargers, 31 pairs of jungle boots, camouflage uniforms, nine mobile handsets, and various other tactical accessories.
In a separate incident in Kakching district’s Sumak Leikai area, security forces arrested Mayanglambam Kiran Singh (43), an active KYKL cadre. Singh was reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting the public in Imphal West and Kakching areas. One mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
