Manipur Security Forces Nab Four Militants in Separate Operations
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur arrested four militants in separate operations conducted in Imphal West and Churachandpur districts on January 25.
In Imphal West, two active members of the proscribed People’s Re PREPAK (Progressive) were apprehended from Langol Type II.
The arrested individuals, identified as Sairem Rishikumar Singh (24) and Longjam Nganthoiba Meitei alias Lamngakpa (22), were allegedly involved in extortion activities in Imphal and Thoubal.
During the operation, authorities seized six mobile phones, two .32 pistols with magazines, five .32 live rounds, five extortion letters, and a four-wheeler from the duo.
Meanwhile, in Churachandpur district, two cadres of the proscribed UKRA (SoO group) were arrested from Maunjang village in New Dampi.
The arrested individuals, Thangrengsong Kom (45) and L Washington Kom (42), were allegedly involved in extorting ex-servicemen. Two mobile phones, one wallet, and one catapult were recovered from their possession.
