Manipur Security Forces Ramp Up Operations, Recover Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Kakching District

Northeast Desk, 29th August: Security forces in Manipur have intensified their operations across the hill and valley districts, focusing on fringe and vulnerable areas, in a bid to curb militancy. A recent search operation at Wabagai Natekhong Khulpali Ground in Kakching District resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, underscoring the ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent activities in the region.

The recovered items include:

  • One Sten Mk-V Rifle with two magazines
  • Two 12-bore single-barrel rifles
  • Two 9mm pistols with magazines
  • Nine HE-36 hand grenades
  • One stun grenade
  • Four arming rings
  • Four tube launchers
  • 29 live rounds of ammunition
  • 22 fired cases
  • Three bulletproof jacket vests
  • Two magazine pouches
  • One Baofeng wireless set with charger

These items were discovered during an extensive combing operation, reflecting the commitment of security forces to maintaining peace and order in the area.

In addition to the search operations, security forces have been actively ensuring the safe transportation of essential goods across the state. A total of 87 vehicles along National Highway 37 (NH-37) and 116 vehicles along National Highway 2 (NH-2) were escorted safely. To further bolster security, 101 Nakas (checkpoints) have been set up across various districts, leading to the detention of 113 individuals for violations.

These efforts highlight the ongoing challenges in maintaining security in Manipur, as well as the dedication of the forces in preventing the resurgence of militant activities in the region.
