Manipur: Security Forces Ramp Up Operations, Seize Arms and Explosives in Key Operations
Northeast Desk, 29th September: In a continued drive to curb insurgency and ensure peace in Manipur, security forces have intensified search and area domination operations across the state’s troubled hill and valley districts. Joint teams of the Manipur Police and the Indian Army have executed several successful operations, leading to major recoveries of arms and explosives, reflecting ongoing threats in the region.
In a significant operation near Karong Bridge in Imphal East District, security personnel recovered two 20 kg improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a 2.5 kg IED, and 50 meters of cordtex. These recoveries underscore the persistent danger posed by armed groups operating in the state.
Additionally, a separate operation in Aigejang village in Kangpokpi District led to the discovery of a cache of sophisticated weaponry. Security forces seized a 7.62mm sniper rifle with a scope, two 9mm pistols, a bolt-action rifle, 17 live rounds of ammunition, four No. 36 hand grenades, an IED, and two picket grenades.
The recovery of these high-powered arms and explosives highlights the volatile security environment in Manipur, where insurgent activities continue to pose significant risks to civilians. Security forces are ramping up their operations in both hill and valley areas to neutralize such threats and maintain law and order.
The ongoing operations are part of the broader efforts by the state and central forces to dismantle insurgent networks and prevent further escalation of violence in the region.
