Manipur: Security Forces Ramp Up Search Operations, Recover Improvised Weapons

Northeast Desk, 3rd October: Security forces in Manipur conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable fringe areas in both hill and valley districts, in response to ongoing concerns regarding safety and stability in the region. The operations aimed to prevent threats and ensure security in the area.

During the operations, security forces facilitated the safe movement of essential items, escorting 203 vehicles along National Highway 37 and 243 vehicles along National Highway 2. Strict security measures were implemented, including the deployment of security convoys along sensitive stretches to ensure the safe passage of vehicles.

Authorities have also set up 110 Nakas (checkpoints) across various districts, encompassing both hill and valley areas. During the monitoring process, police reported that no detentions were made for violations.

In a significant recovery, Manipur Police seized one locally made improvised mortar (pumpi), three additional improvised mortars, and eight rounds of pumpi ammunition from Khousabung and the surrounding areas in Churachandpur District. These actions demonstrate the ongoing commitment of security forces to maintain safety and stability within the state.
