Manipur Security Forces Recover Arms, Ensure Safe Passage of Essential Goods in Extensive Operations

Northeast Desk, 19th July: In a concerted effort to enhance security in Manipur’s hill and valley districts, security forces have conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises, resulting in significant recoveries of arms and ammunition.

Focused operations in areas such as Takhel village and the Teraphai/Tuisenphai hills in Imphal East District led to the recovery of one .303 rifle with a magazine, one carbine with a magazine, 15 live ammunition rounds, two HE-36 hand grenades, one WP green color no. 80 mark-1 grenade, one pistol, and 49 empty cartridges.

In addition to these recoveries, security forces ensured the uninterrupted movement of essential goods along key national highways. A total of 77 vehicles on NH-37 and 246 vehicles on NH-2, carrying essential items, were escorted safely. Strict security measures were implemented in all vulnerable locations, with security convoys provided along sensitive stretches to ensure the free and safe movement of these vehicles.

The operations also included extensive naka (checkpoint) checks, with 101 checkpoints set up across various districts in both hill and valley areas. Police detained 81 individuals in connection with various violations across the state.

These coordinated efforts reflect the security forces’ commitment to maintaining peace and safety, while ensuring essential supplies reach their destinations without interruption.
