Manipur: Security Forces Unearth Arms Cache, Dismantle Extortion Hub in Kangpokpi Operation

Imphal: In a decisive move against criminal elements plaguing National Highway-2, a significant joint operation executed by security forces has resulted in the discovery of a substantial arms cache and the destruction of multiple extortion sites within Khengang Village, Kangpokpi district.

The coordinated effort, driven by precise intelligence, aimed to dismantle a network of miscreants who were actively disrupting traffic flow and engaging in illegal extortion activities along the vital transportation artery.

A combined team comprising personnel from the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Manipur Police conducted a thorough Cordon and Search Operation, effectively denying the miscreants a safe haven for their illicit operations. The meticulous search yielded a significant haul of weaponry, including two Self-Loading Rifles (SLR), three live SLR rounds, two locally manufactured pompis, 59 live rounds of 12-bore rifles, a hand-held radio set, and a helmet. Furthermore, the operation resulted in the complete demolition of twelve makeshift bunkers, which were being utilized by the miscreants as strategic points for extorting money from commuters and disrupting the smooth flow of traffic along the highway.

In the aftermath of the successful operation, a CRPF company has been strategically deployed to the area, ensuring a sustained presence and preventing any potential resurgence of illegal activities at the location. Security forces have reiterated their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives of civilians and ensuring the uninterrupted movement of vehicles along NH-2, particularly along the crucial stretch connecting Imphal to the General Area of Saparmeina. This joint operation underscores the steadfast determination of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces to restore a sense of normalcy and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal operations within the region.
