Manipur Security Sweep Nets Seven Militants Across Multiple Operations
Imphal: A concerted effort by Manipur’s security forces has resulted in the apprehension of seven militants from various proscribed organizations, signaling a significant blow to insurgent activities in the region. The operations, conducted across different districts, highlight the ongoing security challenges and the persistent efforts to maintain peace.
The crackdown commenced with the arrest of two cadres belonging to the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) in Lamphel, Imphal West district. These individuals, identified as Moirangthem Jiban Singh (27) and Laishram Tiken Singh (40), were taken into custody on Friday, with security personnel also recovering Rs 50,000 during the operation.
Further reinforcing the assault on the KCP (PWG), a separate operation near the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal led to the arrest of Thoudam Premkumar Singh (38). This individual was found in possession of a bag, two mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and a debit card, further disrupting the organization’s network.
Simultaneously, two members of the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), Keisham Naocha alias Ningsingba (38) and Ningthoujam Sanjoy (18), were apprehended near the Lokchao river along the India-Myanmar border in the Tengnoupal district on Thursday. These individuals have since been handed over to local law enforcement for further processing.
Another significant arrest involved Mayanglambam Borish Singh, a 24-year-old cadre of the outlawed KCP (Taibanganba), who was taken into custody on Friday. Adding to the tally, Ningthoujam Dhananjoy, a member of the banned PREPAK, was also arrested. From this individual, security personnel recovered a mobile phone with a sim card, an Aadhaar card, a wallet, an RC book, Rs 1000 in cash, and a Tata Nexon car with its key.
These arrests underscore the continued vigilance of Manipur’s security forces in combating insurgency and maintaining law and order in the region.
