Early this morning, a landslide struck the Awangkhul landslide point along National Highway 37, raising serious concerns about safety and accessibility. The landslide disrupted the movement of people and goods, worsening the already precarious situation caused by incessant rainfall.
Since 1 AM, heavy rains have inundated *Longmai Bazaar, the district’s main market hub. Streets in *Longmai town and surrounding areas are flooded, paralyzing local businesses and leaving many without electricity as power outages spread throughout the region.
Local weather forecasts indicate further deterioration, with *temperatures expected to range between 26 and 33°C. Authorities have issued warnings about *reduced visibility, which poses additional risks for commuters and residents attempting to navigate through the waterlogged areas.
Meanwhile, the region continues to reel from the broader impact of severe weather. In *Nepal, the *death toll from floods and landslides has climbed to *126, with dozens still missing. In **Bihar, floodwaters have reached the *Katra Bakuchi Power Grid in *Muzaffarpur, plunging approximately *45,000 homes into darkness due to widespread power outages.
