Manipur Slams Mizoram CM, Accuses Him of Stoking Division
The Manipur government has launched a scathing attack on Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, accusing him of “stoking the fire of hatred and division” through “unwarranted comments.” The state government urged the Mizoram CM to display “better statesmanship” and be a “good neighbor.”
In a strongly worded statement, the Manipur government expressed concerns over Lalduhoma’s recent comments, particularly his support for President’s Rule in Manipur and his opposition to border fencing with Myanmar. The government also took issue with the CM’s call for the reunification of the Zo people and his suggestion of potential armed conflict in the region.
The Manipur government linked the ongoing crisis in the state to illegal immigration from Myanmar and the impact of the state’s ‘War on Drugs’ on the illicit poppy trade. It refuted claims of anti-tribal policies and highlighted the historical and cultural significance of Manipur.
The statement further accused Mizoram of facilitating the illegal trafficking of arms, ammunition, and drugs between India and Myanmar, urging the CM to focus on addressing this issue rather than criticizing Manipur’s efforts to combat drug trafficking.
The Manipur government reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in the state and warned against any attempts to fragment Northeast India or create a “Greater Mizoram.” It emphasized that such actions would be met with strict legal consequences.
