Manipur Student Stuns Himself, State with NEET-UG Top Rank
Imphal: In a remarkable turn of events that even surprised the topper himself, Erwin Khundrakpam, a student from Manipur, has clinched the coveted top rank in the state for the NEET-UG 2025 examination. His exceptional performance saw him secure an impressive percentile of 99.82, a feat made even more astonishing by his candid admission that this was “the worst exam I had all year.” Khundrakpam, still reeling from the unexpected outcome, told reporters, “I had no idea this would happen… I was not expecting this at all.”
The journey to medical success wasn’t always straightforward for Khundrakpam, who initially harboured aspirations of becoming an engineer. A pivotal conversation with his father, however, steered him towards the noble path of medicine. His first attempt at NEET in 2023 was marred by the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly disrupted his Class 11 studies. “My Class 11 results weren’t good because of COVID, so I wasn’t well prepared back then,” he recounted, adding, “This year, I tried my best and worked hard.”
Meanwhile, across the nation, the NEET-UG 2025 results saw other bright minds shine. Krishang Joshi, originally from Uttarakhand but appearing for the exam from Maharashtra, secured an impressive All India Rank 3. Echoing the sentiment of service, Joshi shared with ANI, “Since class ten, my ambition has been to become a doctor, because as my parents say, it is a very noble profession, you can work independently and serve society.”
